2017 CHICAGO OPENING FORUM

LaRoyce Hawkins is an actor, spoken word artist, standup comedian, motivational speaker, and advocate for youth. He currently stars on the hit NBC police drama Chicago P.D. He's also featured in NBC's Chicago Fire, HBO's Ballers, TBS' Tyler Perry's House of Pain, MTV's Underemployed, and ABC's Detroit 1-8-7.

Israel Idonije has been building toward the next phase of his life since he was a child. He built an 11-year NFL career against all odds by developing himself to the status of an elite athlete (playing 10 years with the Chicago Bears and one year with the Detroit Lions).

Harold Green is an ever-evolving artist, with a fluidity that defies categorization. Known chiefly as a poet, Green weaves stories with passion and lyrical creativity that captivates audiences. He expands beyond the coffee house, spoken word crowd creating CDs, videos, and books; performing at festivals, rallies, and college campuses across the country; selling out major Chicago music venues; and even performing center stage at the inauguration of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Reverend Michael L. Pfleger, "Father Pfleger," has lived and ministered in the African-American community on both the west and south sides of Chicago for nearly 40 years. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago on May 14, 1975.

2016 CHICAGO OVERVIEW VIDEOS

This year, 20 teams in Chicago, and 13 teams in DC, designed original solutions to critical issues and showcased them for panels of local judges.

Twenty high school teams from across Chicago Public Schools came to Soldier Field to learn about critical issues we face in our society. They were tasked with selecting an issue - a challenge - to solve.

The Aspen Challenge provides inspiration, tools, and a platform for young people to design solutions to some of the most critical issues humanity faces.
