Elementary school students across the San Fernando Valley are growing vegetables in gardens at their school and learning all about the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) in the process. Spreading Sprouts, a club of Taft High School initiated by a 2013 Aspen Challenge team, is comprised of high school students who are eager to teach the next generation about the value of bringing the principles of STEAM into everyday needs. The students visit elementary school classrooms each year, teaching them lessons and helping them plant gardens.
