Smita Rawoot is an urban planner, architect, and urban designer. She’s the associate director for global delivery at Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) program, where she heads solution delivery for 29 North American cities. A planning and design professional for more than 18 years, Rawoot has supported development of inclusive communities with vibrant public realms and environmentally and economically sustainable places. Her experience includes residential, education, hospitality, and special needs housing developments in the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. As a principal at a US design firm leading the setup of a regional planning studio, she developed an understanding of development opportunities and constraints in rapidly urbanizing regions of Asia. Focus areas in public policy and urban planning include public-space planning, resilient housing, land-use planning, and zoning law. Rawoot holds a master in city planning from MIT and a master in architecture from Pratt Institute.
