Wajahat Ali is a journalist, writer, lawyer, playwright, and TV personality. He helped launch Al Jazeera America as co-host of the news show “The Stream” and as a national correspondent, political reporter, and social media expert for the network. Ali authored an award-winning play about Muslim Americans, The Domestic Crusaders, and produced the documentary film series The Secret Life of Muslims. He was lead author and researcher of the Center for American Progress’s report, Fear Inc.: Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America. As creative director of Affinis Labs, Ali created social entrepreneurship initiatives, and in 2012, he worked with the US State Department to design and implement the “Generation Change” leadership program to empower young social entrepreneurs, for which he was honored by then-secretary of state Hilary Clinton and by the Muslim Public Affairs Council. A frequent guest on CNN, Ali’s writing appears in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and Salon.
